WANTED FOR BEING
SPRING/BREAK ART SHOW 2012
Items from Spring Break Art Show NYC March 2012
The installation created for SPRING/BREAK art show 2012 is a surveillance piece based around everyones empty interactions with personal property. This arrangement is only one arrangement of many possibilities, like that given to us in any interior design magazine. The placed television set has a continuous live black and white video feed. This feed works in lieu of an inanimate objects eye. The feed is typically of un-aware participants in a room. The feed sends signals of light and dark to small sensors that in turn produce a droning sound. The sound increases and decreases based on how great the light source from the television is. This sound creates an atmosphere of audio that enables another vibration triggered sensor to react causing light sources to emit radiance. This causes the inanimate objects to interact in an infinite loop with one another once triggered.
The video at the end of the images is often accompanied with this install. The trees waving combined with scrolling teleprompter lines creates another element of material hypnosis. This acts as an outside view from within the confines of the installation. The footage was shot in Kiama, NSW Australia. The audio helps the installation act on it's own often. Sound designed by artist and sound engineer Michaela Sanders/Lux Comms The artist advises you use giant headphones.
